Cleaning Brushes & Combs with Baking Soda
Brushes and combs are part of our daily routines. They help give our luscious locks form and shape so we can look fairly put together when we go into the office for work. But how often do you thing about cleaning your hairbrushes and combs?
Brushes and combs have various use cases and come in different forms and fashions. They also attract a decent amount of dust, hairspray, grease, oils, and more with consistent use over time. That’s why it’s important to clean brushes and combs now and then so you can avoid using an oily hairbrush after you just rinsed off.
Luckily for you, baking soda helps get your brushes and combs clean. We’re going to tell you how to clean hairbrushes and combs with baking soda so you can help keep all your bristles looking fresh!
Why Baking Soda is Ideal for Cleaning Hairbrushes & Combs
Our hair naturally produces oils that can collect at the root. You may have slightly greasier hair if you use certain products or have been sweating after a long workout or day in the summer sun. These hair oils and grease make the pH of your hair and scalp slightly acidic.
But how does this apply to brushes and combs?
Well, you transfer grease and oil from your hair to your brushes and combs every time you use them. Not to mention, you more than likely have several strands of hair that get stuck to the bristles! However, since baking soda has alkaline properties, it can help to neutralize acidic grease and oil from hair and help provide a thorough cleaning of your hairbrushes and combs when soaked in a solution, rinsed, and allowed to dry.
Why is There Lint in My Hairbrush?
The fuzz that might look like lint on your hairbrush is a mix of dust as well as grease, natural oils, and dry skin cells from your hair. If you use hair care products, leftover residue may also contribute to fuzz and particles that get trapped in your hairbrush bristles.
Luckily for you, baking soda is here to help!
